Why did I write this book?
In my career I have had the privilege of working in many companies, countries and industries. During my working life there have been some world class leaders that I worked with and have learnt some great approaches to helping each leader become the best version of myself.
My career has been a series of reinventing myself and lifelong learning. This has required me to get 'comfortable being uncomfortable', and this has accelerated my growth to make me reflect on what it is that is my current brand and what do I want this to be.
During the journey I discovered early that developing my staff actually served to develop myself. Just like a sharp knife that is sharpened by steel there goes the saying:
“You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.”
The coaching of staff to be their best versions of themselves requires trust that you are trying to help and not hurt each individual. I have enjoyed coaching many talented leaders to become CIO and CISO's. There has also been some external peers who have reached out to request to be professionally coached by myself, and that has been my honour to help them.
This book represents an approach to guide your journey up the mountain to be a CIO and CISO. Regardless of you current level, there is a higher destination that you covet, but don't quite understand how to unlock this journey.
The chapters in this new book - The Aspiring CIO and CISO has been designed to provide a guide to identify the Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviour that is required to make this transition.
Enjoy the book, and let me know what feedback that you have.
David
