Forbes Magazine on 90 Day Plans

Image
Morning all As I was reviewing the internet and came across this article in Forbes Magazine written by Anne Marie Segal.  She published author herself and a professional Executive Leadership Coach.  To quote her article: Quite flattering for her to reference my older CIO article, which has now been taken down and I guess archived. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbescoachescouncil/2019/07/01/the-306090-day-plan-optimize-your-first-90-days-in-a-new-role/?sh=eb8d0c83b206

The moment that my book is on Amazon

Image
I feel immensely proud to announce my first book.  A very good friend Carsten once asked me: “Why are you writing this book?” My answer was easy.  “I’ve always loved to mentor and help my team achieve their personal best. This book helps me to attempt to take this broader and with many people that I have never met” I’d like to Thank my many friends who have supported my journey.  There are many to acknowledge and I will do this separately to ensure I haven’t forgotten anyone   Tonight with my great friends Mike and Laurie who are visiting from states we celebrated our friendship and this little poignant moment. For background -> the ITnews Benchmark Awards have given end user organisations, their IT leaders and teams an opportunity to gain recognition for their ambition, innovation and the value they have delivered to government, industry and the public.  This year we will be recognising both the projects and the people behind Australia's best IT initiatives. Now this is some 10 years ago and the I'm actually not sure where that plaque is in my office.  But is is very warming to recall winning this award and my speech to Thank my amazing team (Ross, Karin, Brett, Clayton and Sue) for incredible transformation delivery.  I do remember that hangover the next day well !

Why did I write this book?

Image
In my career I have had the privilege of working in many companies, countries and industries.  During my working life there have been some world class leaders that I worked with and have learnt some great approaches to helping each leader become the best version of myself. My career has been a series of reinventing myself and lifelong learning. This has required me to get 'comfortable being uncomfortable', and this has accelerated my growth to make me reflect on what it is that is my current brand and what do I want this to be. During the journey I discovered early that developing my staff actually served to develop myself.  Just like a sharp knife that is sharpened by steel there goes the saying: “ You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another. ” Image by macrovector</a> on Freepik The coaching of staff to be their best versions of themselves requires trust that you are trying to help and not hurt each individual.  I have enjoyed coaching many tal...
